Which External Hard Drive Should I Buy?

Somone recommended that I buy this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822186072
And someone else suggested this one:
http://www.lacie.com/us/products/product.htm?pid=11014
They both have a reasonable price. However, why is the Lacie (2ND LINK) hard drive giving me so much more space for such a low price? (Just $30 more than the first one, 500 GB for $99.99!).
I'm new to this, so if you have other recommendations, please feel free to type them in.

THANK YOU!

PS: I'm in need of an external hard drive because my computer is slowing down and I have about 30 GB in photos stored on it. I'm not even sure about how many songs I have piled on there, but it's a lot. So pleaseeee help! :)

I had a La Cie years ago with my Mac Performa 476 when I started to run out of hard drive space (I think it might have been 500 MB.) I just bought another one last year (I think it's 250 or maybe 500 GB) since I had such good luck with the first one. I recommend the LaCie. It is sturdy and reliable. I can hook it up to any one of my computers and use it. Mine happens to be formatted for Mac, but you can format for PC. My older one still works, and it is at least twelve years old.
